a) Give us a quote that explains how you see life.
What you can do, or dream you can, begin it. Courage has genius, power and magic in it.
b) What's wrong with the world?
Sarcasm and cynicism rob people of their joy and belief in possibility, magic, sparkles--wonder is dying.
c) What does the world need more of?
Wonder, belief in extraordinary things, faith, hope.
d) What's one great businesses idea you wished you thought of?
The Vermont Teddy Bear Company! Hugs you can send across the world--what an awesome idea!
e) Name 3 people you admire and 1 word on each of them to describe why.
I admire Tori Amos for never giving in and changing because she was different, I admire my Polish grandmother who came across that big, salty lake because she was in passionate search for something better, I admire my little sister, who is growing up to be a firecracker and doesn't give a rat's ass what anyone thinks of her, but herself.
f) What's your cocktail line?
What in life are you most grateful for?
g) What does/will your business bring to the world?
A sense of magic, and extraordinary possibility, a belief in oneself, a hunger for beautiful things, a reminder than you have and are everything you need.
h) What problem do you solve for people?
When people stop believing in themselves, they come to me--I'm a mirror who tells you the extraordinary truth about yourself, the sacred within you, the divinity that everyone else sees and loves, but you can't seem to.
i) What are your current or intended revenue streams?
I make jewelry out of old, unloved fairy tale books--I want to grow my business even more, and start up my blog at MuseRising, writing self help eBooks on how to get your sacred back.
j) What did you used to believe that you now think is silly?
I used to believe that I'll never get published because I'm a tattooed, vegan lesbian who believes in hope and following your heart and wears a lot of sparkle..I thought that if I was unabashedly myself, no one would listen to me. I don't believe that any more.
k) What's your biggest entrepreneurial obstacle, and how will The FSS help you turn it to ashes?
I work a salaried job, have a one hour commute each way, and still find time to make hundreds of pendants and work on my novels and non-fiction work each month, but it makes me burned out and exhausted, often. I feel like it would light my fire, if you will, help me streamline things, get a better grasp on my passions.
l) What chapter in The FSS do you want to read first?
Fear and Other Stuff, and the Strategy of Desire!!!
m) For you, what word is interchangeable with "success"?
Glow.
n) What's one business question you'd like to ask me?
How did you know you'd made it--what one moment made you believe you were starting to change the world for the better? That's all I've ever wanted, and to be able to recognize that moment would be one of the best in my life, I think--I'd love to know when you did.

Thank you so much for this opportunity! It's incredible, and I'm honored to take part.

Get dirty, play with your food, and change the world!

g) What does/will your business bring to the world?

Current: ye old day job
Intended: "Play With Your Food", a guidebook to help parents raise healthy, intuitive eaters. Coaching, working 1-on-1 with families on food issues with kids. Life shrinks or expands according to one's courage. - Anais Nin.

b) What's wrong with the world?
In an attempt to keep up with the Jones', humanity is caught in a vicious cycle of self-isolation and loneliness. Exhausted from working too long and too hard at unfulfilling careers, people are cocooning themselves in their homes, in their cars, on their computer, in ever-increasingly smaller boxes in an effort to re-charge their hearts and souls. Yet this isolation also creates a profound, hungry loneliness, as they spend less and less 'quality' time interacting with loved ones, fellow inhabitants of the planet earth, abandoning the excitement of a surprising soul connection or just a day at the beach, and further feeding the 'me against the world' fear.

I don’t have one. Which I recognize is a problem! This is exactly why I need the Fire Starter Sessions.

g) What does/will your business bring to the world?
Self knowledge, self understanding, self healing

h) What problem do you solve for people?
I serve my clients by helping them to see the un-see-able:
• Karma ~ via Jyotisha, which embraces both fate and free will
• The quality of time, the quality of space ~ via Jyotisha and Vaastu (Vedic ‘Feng Shui’)
• Doshas, the Ayurvedic “constitutional types” (vata, pitta, kapha)
• The energetics of food & experience ~ via Ayurveda and Yoga
• The wisdom of the body ~ via Yoga and Dancemeditation
My goal is to give my clients the information and tools with which they can make better, more useful, choices in their lives, so that they can better surf the waves of energy, time, space, and karma.

i) What are your current or intended revenue streams?
In the Vedic Arts & Sciences stream:
• Consultations / readings using Ayurveda and/or Jyotisha (Vedic Astrology)
• Classes & workshops on Ayurveda and Jyotisha.
• Yoga classes
• Classes & workshops on Ayurveda & Yoga.
In the Sufi stream:
• Classes, workshops in DancemeditationTM ,
Eventually:
• I would like to offer retreats based on these practices
• Perhaps do writing/documentation/videos on/of these practices.

j) What did you used to believe that you now think is silly?
I used to believe the “silly” protestant work ethic that hard work would surely lead to financial success and self-sufficiency. Now, through the study of Jyotisha (which is a study of karma, the map of one’s fate and one’s ability to apply free will), I understand that financial success can be unrelated to hard work (or talent), and conversely, that hard work (or talent) does not ensure success. Although I no longer believe it to be true, it still influences me.

k) What's your biggest entrepreneurial obstacle, and how will The FSS help you turn it to ashes?
Self promotion

l) What chapter in The FSS do you want to read first?
Session 8 – “It’s all self-promotion, Baby” (see k, above).

m) For you, what word is interchangeable with "success"?
Self-sustaining

n) What's one business question you'd like to ask me?
What strategy(ies) do you employ to make decisions, and then what strategy(ies) do you employ to trust yourself?

e) Jesus: God
My mom: faithful
Me: Passionate (yes, I admire myself! Is that so wrong?)

f) I'm a singer/songwriter and creator of "List-it-for-Life." I'm in the business of inspiring people to pursue their passions, live authentically, and make their dreams come true.

g) "List-it-for-Life" is a new organizer for the practically-romantic woman. It offers a way to list all your goals and dreams in life from the day-to-day, to the day you die (i.e. Groceries to the Bucket List), and keep them all together in one SPECIAL place. "List-it-for-Life" is designed to keep every woman organized, motivated, and inspired to achieve all they want in life!

h) No more lost lists, scattered ideas, forgotten dreams, or excuses.

i) Intended revenue: Passive income from "List-it-for-Life" sales, and published and recorded music. Active income from musical performance and, perhaps speaking/teaching engagements.

j) Fallacy: the public educational system has our students' best interest in mind.

k) Money (or lack thereof)

l) Chapter/module 1: Strength+Desire (I've got lots of both, but they need direction)

m) Success=Fulfillment

n) How does one set realistic financial goals when going about business- building in an unconventional way?

Name: Kelly Dare
Website: http://www.immediatesurrounds.blogspot.com

Location: Wellington, New Zealand

Give us a quote that explains how you see life.
Life is beautiful.

What's wrong with the world?
The biggest thing that is wrong with the world today is apathy. If we all just cared a little bit more, all just wanted a little bit more, all just did a little bit more I think we’d get to somewhere amazing.

What does the world need more of?
A little bit more passion, a little bit more buzz. People need to be getting excited about what they’re passionate about and doing that instead of doing something they’re not passionate about. Sure, I get that you need to do things that bring in the money but why not make your way of bringing in the money something you are so excited to do every morning, that it isn’t a chore?

What's one great businesses idea you wished you thought of?
I don’t wish for it. I’m nurturing it and watching it grow and eventually it will be something awesome. If I have to choose something, I wish I’d been around when SXSW was kicking off and had thought of doing that.

Name 3 people you admire and 1 word on each of them to describe why.
Lynette Duxfield (my mum) – reminding
Danielle La Porte (cheesy!) – inspiring
Richard Branson – determined

What's your cocktail line?
Hi! I’m Kelly. We could do amazing stuff together.

What does/will your business bring to the world?
Happiness, inspiration, and a lot of loud creativity.

What problem do you solve for people?
I make the impossible, possible. You want a haunted forest in a leaky basement for your art exhibition? Trust me, I’ll make it happen.

What are your current or intended revenue streams?
I’m an events manager/designer/planner. I wear a lot of hats so that my clients can rest easy and I can get on with it.

What did you used to believe that you now think is silly?
I used to believe I didn’t deserve complete happiness. Now I know I deserve everything I work for.

What's your biggest entrepreneurial obstacle, and how will The FSS help you turn it to ashes?
I think BIG. I don’t want to be the best party planner in a city, I want to be the best party planner in a country. This is a good thing but sometimes, I need to be hauled back to the planning stages so I can achieve those dreams. The FSS would help me do this. The chapter that was sold singularly helped me so much already.

What chapter in The FSS do you want to read first?
The Burning Questions

For you, what word is interchangeable with "success"?
Happiness. Not that I need to be 100% successful all the time, but happiness is the goal.

What's one business question you'd like to ask me?
How do you get over the fear of starting out?

b) What's wrong with the world?

Too much ennui, indifference, and disrespect of life.

c) What does the world need more of?

Compassion, passion, and connection with nature. People also need to find the light and love inside them and bring it to the surface.

d) What's one great businesses idea you wished you thought of?

h) What problem do you solve for people?

I want to reconnect people to their primal selves.

i) What are your current or intended revenue streams?

My current streams are from two regular jobs: book store, and a raw food restaurant. I want to have a passive income and work alone - I am much more vivid and creative when I am free.

j) What did you used to believe that you now think is silly?

That people always mean what they say.

k) What's your biggest entrepreneurial obstacle, and how will The FSS help you turn it to ashes?

My biggest obstacle is that I have such a large amount of interests that it's been hard to focus on just one and keep a steady direction. I'm working on figuring this out, and when I do, I want to start with passion, drive, and I believe the FFS will catapult me to a proper start.

l) What chapter in The FSS do you want to read first?

The beginning chapter, because I like to build from scratch. And the final chapter, because it means I'll be on my way to creating something amazing.

m) For you, what word is interchangeable with "success"?

Freedom.

n) What's one business question you'd like to ask me?

When you're passionate about many things, how do you choose which one to focus on and create a business around?

a) Give us a quote that explains how you see life.
Be the change you wish to see in the world.
b) What's wrong with the world?
Everything's to fast. I'm all over the slow movements - slow food, slow growing up for kids, slow breathing.
c) What does the world need more of?
The world needs more simplicity. Simple relations, simple food (it always comes back to food for me) simpler lifestyles.
d) What's one great businesses idea you wished you thought of?
I took an online photography course this summer. It was so nice to be part of that community for a few weeks. Made me want to think of a way to recreate that in a similar style but in a different field.
e) Name 3 people you admire and 1 word on each of them to describe why.
Parker Posey - hilarious
David Suzuki - messenger
Alice Waters - revolutionary
f) What's your cocktail line?
I can beat box too, you know.
g) What does/will your business bring to the world?
A lovingly human-made creation to engulf you in one of the most important things in life; handmade goodness.
h) What problem do you solve for people?
I solve the problem of people having no option but to purchase soulless commodities offered by big brand conglomerates.
i) What are your current or intended revenue streams?
I have two Etsy shops I sell my wares from. I sometimes sell to locals in and around the Nelson area. Sometimes, when I'm without nursing babies, I do a summer market or two.
j) What did you used to believe that you now think is silly?
I couldn't leave the house without bright red lipstick on.
k) What's your biggest entrepreneurial obstacle, and how will The FSS help you turn it to ashes?
I have so many passions and a constant flow of amazing ideas that I find I get overwhelmed by all the possibilities and then lose steam when it comes to executing them well. I hope FSS will help me hone in on a unique focus.
l) What chapter in The FSS do you want to read first?
Session Five: Integrity branding

m) For you, what word is interchangeable with "success"?

a) Give us a quote that explains how you see life.
Your work is to discover your work and then, with all your heart, to give yourself to it.
~ Buddha

b) What's wrong with the world?
b) That there are not enough people aware of, or exercising, their CHOICE, or who know that they have the power to set themselves free.

c) What does the world need more of?
Passion, and the people who burn and light up the world with it.

d) What's one great businesses idea you wished you thought of?
Google, and how it’s not an idea, it’s an ethos.

e) Name 3 people you admire and 1 word on each of them to describe why.
Ghandi – Human
Gala Darling - Revolutionary
Steve Pavlina - Experimental

f) What's your cocktail line?
I say it right!

g) What does/will your business bring to the world?
Outsourced communication that does what it says on the box – authentic, straightforward, and riveting.

h) What problem do you solve for people?
h) I help people communicate what is in their hearts and minds into understandable value-propositions and imagination-igniters for others.

i) What are your current or intended revenue streams?
I am still exploring possibilities on this one – one of the things I hope FSS can help with!

j) What did you used to believe that you now think is silly?
I used to strongly believe in black and white, right and wrong. Now I understand it more as a gumball of myriad greys, where colours blend and stances pull apart reluctantly and with stringy bits of the other still attached. All that is ‘right’ is the path with a heart.

k) What's your biggest entrepreneurial obstacle, and how will The FSS help you turn it to ashes?
Taking action is my biggest obstacle – I love ideas and strategic brainstorming but am weak when it comes to taking action. FSS will give me a ‘how to’ to grow the passion big enough so it engulfs me and has to be born into the real world. Ultimate trajectory!

l) What chapter in The FSS do you want to read first?
Chapter 1, just in case it was put in that order for a reason! But the chapter I am most excited about is Reverie & Courage, because I think this is a huge missing piece for me.

m) For you, what word is interchangeable with "success"?
Aliveness.

n) What's one business question you'd like to ask me?
How do I know if my idea is good enough to fly, and does it matter?

a) Give us a quote that explains how you see life.

“Be yourself. Everyone else is already taken.” Oscar Wilde.

b) What's wrong with the world?

So many of us see the world (including ourselves) as “Either/or”

c) What does the world need more of?

For all of us to develop a capacity to see the world from more of a “Both/And” point of view. And love – always love.

d) What's one great businesses idea you wished you thought of?

It’s ‘old skool now,’ but Amazon.com was an inspired idea when it first arrived on the Internet scene. And it still delivers on its original vision – making it incredibly easy for people to get the books they’re looking for, and to connect with more books they’ll love as well as with kindred spirits.

e) Name 3 people you admire and 1 word on each of them to describe why.

Audre Lourde – Courage
Chris Guillebeau - Audacity
His Holiness the Dalai Lama – Compassion

f) What's your cocktail line?

I am dedicated to Liberation… in all its forms.

g) What does/will your business bring to the world?

I’ve got two businesses; I’m gonna talk here about the second one – my business-in-formation: The Liberated Life Project.

h) What problem do you solve for people?

Helping people to free themselves from the fears that keep them from living life to the fullest.

i) What are your current or intended revenue streams?

Intended revenue through the new business – Liberated Life Project: e-book sales and affiliate links.

[Currently, through my Five Directions business, I do one-to-one consulting with nonprofit organizations that need help with marketing, communications, and fundraising. I’m scaling up current revenue there by shifting from individual consulting to group coaching model.]

j) What did you used to believe that you now think is silly?

I used to believe I was never meant for greatness.

k) What's your biggest entrepreneurial obstacle, and how will The FSS help you turn it to ashes?

As one of my mentors calls it, “Analysis paralysis.” I can get too stuck in gathering information and cogitating on it. At some point, I need to get off my butt and just do it!

l) What chapter in The FSS do you want to read first?
Fear and Other Tough Stuff

m) For you, what word is interchangeable with "success"?
Love.

n) What's one business question you'd like to ask me?
I’m trying to re-vamp one business while creating another (which I feel incredibly passionate about). Am I crazy or can I really do this?

a) Give us a quote that explains how you see life.
Use what talents you possess; the woods would be very silent if no birds sang there except those that sang best. ~Henry Van Dyke

b) What's wrong with the world?
We tend to be careless and focus on the negative. We need to focus on being positive, joyful, caring, and giving. If we all started doing what's right, even in a small sense, I think we would find ourselves asking, "What's right with the world?"

c) What does the world need more of?
The world needs more people who truly care, who are not just thinkers, but DOers. We need people to "be the change we wish to see in the world." It's easy to sit around and say things should be different, but how about actually doing something about it?

d) What's one great businesses idea you wished you thought of?
Stones into Schools, through which Greg Mortenson focuses on promoting peace through education. Here is a man who is a Doer, who wanted to give and provide for the world, and who went out and did just that.

e) Name 3 people you admire and 1 word on each of them to describe why.
My boyfriend: Compassion
My mom: Integrity
Michelle Ward: Courage

f) What's your cocktail line?
While I can be witty, I just don't have any jokes in my back pocket. For me, a "cocktail line" would be the beautiful line of sweet, pretty dresses in my closet or a new line of cocktail party invitations to design.

g) What does/will your business bring to the world?
Through my blog and future products, my business will be focused on inspiration and joy, on helping people to reclaim the loves they once thought they'd lost. There are so many lovely people out there longing to live a life they love and have the courage to embrace their passions. I'm here to remind them that it's never too late to "re:find Joy."

h) What problem do you solve for people?
I hope to be there to encourage, help, and inspire people to find joy in their lives and to give joy to others. I think in this busy world, it is sometimes easy to forget about the things that put a smile on our face.

i) What are your current or intended revenue streams?
I'm an illustrator, graphic designer, blog author and crafter. I'm working on creating products in order to launch an online shop to complement my blog. I hope to sell joyful items online and in consignment shops.

j) What did you used to believe that you now think is silly?
I used to believe that a desk job would be enough; enough to satisfy me, enough to pay my bills, comfortable enough that I would be happy in life. I know now, that I need to do what I truly love, instead of working for a dream that isn't mine.

k) What's your biggest entrepreneurial obstacle, and how will The FSS help you turn it to ashes?
I think my fear of the reality and the fear of just starting are the things holding me back. The FSS will help me by reminding me just how silly fears are, that with the right amount of knowledge and help my dream is a real possibility. Honestly, I think I just need a good kick in the behind to get me to realize that my dream can be my reality.

l) What chapter in The FSS do you want to read first?
I WANT to read Products+Services first, but I NEED to read Time+Fear Management first. I really need to learn how to address each of my fears, and get over them.

m) For you, what word is interchangeable with "success"?
Joy. I truly feel that as long as your life and your work bring you joy, you are successful.

n) What's one business question you'd like to ask me?
How did you get to where you are, and truly "own it"?

b) What's wrong with the world? people being afraid.
c) What does the world need more of? Love, sweet Love. In the form of self-forgiveness. It frees you to forgive everyone else.
d) What's one great businesses idea you wished you thought of? None of them; whenever something outside of me really awes me, it just re-affirms and reaffirms: you are not alone. also i know that without trying i have a wealth of ideas, and that the true sin of envy is against myself because it distracts me from the abundance of life.
e) Name 3 people you admire and 1 word on each of them to describe why. My husband: rock. My mother: phoenix. Myself: joy
f) What's your cocktail line? Don't know yet. Been shedding all ways of being that require premeditation.

j) What did you used to believe that you now think is silly? Can’t think of anything because I am on a huge forgiveness trip! Everything that happens could only have happened the way it did, including all of my cringe-inducing previous assumptions about life. k) What's your biggest entrepreneurial obstacle, and how will The FSS help you turn it to ashes? I am frequently afraid of my own ideas, and I can only assume that this will be helped a lot because Danielle is a manifestation of all of the great things that fearlessness brings about: beauty, influence, and inner peace being the biggies for me. On a purely practical level I will pick up phrases and concepts that will “stick”, and inner conversations/self-talk/meditation has been huge for me.
l) What chapter in The FSS do you want to read first? The first chapter, I’m really into “Beginner’s Mind” right now.

a) Give us a quote that explains how you see life.
“People who say it cannot be done should not interrupt those who are doing it.” (Anonymous)

b) What's wrong with the world?
I love being in this world, and I would like to see less guilt and blame running around.

c) What does the world need more of?
People willing and able to meet themselves where they are.
People being with other people's pain without trying to fix them.
Support for those who need it.
Fresh water.

d) What's one great businesses idea you wished you thought of?
Popsicles

e) Name 3 people you admire and 1 word on each of them to describe why.
You mean other than you, right?
My second mother, Mati Daphna: Saviour.
Havi Brooks: comfort
ani difranco: power

f) What's your cocktail line?
Not sure I have one. I can't even remember the last time I had a cocktail. Motherhood, messes with your alcohol consumption.

g) What does/will your business bring to the world?
A treasure map for going From Postpartum Depression to Joy, in countless baby steps, and a leap of faith.
I help struggling mamas believe in themselves enough to climb out of the abyss of PPD (the leap of faith does not require a belief in god). I lead support meetings, foster community, and offer practical emotional tools that provide comfort in the most vulnerable time in a family's life.

h) What problem do you solve for people?
The reported numbers for Postpartum Depression are 15% of new mothers suffer from it. Experts estimate that the true extent of the problem is closer to 70% of new mothers going through significant emotional hardship. Less than 25% get treatment. The rest suffer alone, blaming themselves for being bad mothers, with devastating effects on their families. Often guilt and shame cause the most damage and push mothers over the edge. So breaking the silence, educating the public and creating community are essential for recovery. With proper support most mothers get better, but when things go terribly wrong postpartum depression can be deadly. (Believe me, I know. My birth-mother succumbed to PPD when I was 6 years old. Then I got lucky, my dad remarried, to the most amazing woman ever ( see question E). When PPD descended on me after the birth of my son, I did everything in my power avoid following in my birth mother's footsteps. I worked hard, learned so much, and when I got better, I made it my calling to disarm postpartum depression). The goal of my work is to prevent suicide, provide relief from guilt and shame, and help mothers create new patterns that will support them on their way out depression and for the rest of their life.

i) What are your current or intended revenue streams?
No revenue so far (husband is the breadwinner). Recently I started leading free community support groups (the first one was today! It rocked!). I am also developing home-study materials for moms who can't come to meetings. I am having a hard time asking for money for what I think should be available to all. Still, I need to find a way to make this work provide for my family.

j) What did you used to believe that you now think is silly?
That if you are a good mother, you just know how to do it, naturally.

k) What's your biggest entrepreneurial obstacle, and how will The FSS help you turn it to ashes?
Making peace with charging for information that I believe should be available to all.
Overcoming the fear of doing something really meaningful to me.
Through the FSS I want to work on the resistance, and the what-if's, and get lots of how-to.

l) What chapter in The FSS do you want to read first?
The first one.

m) For you, what word is interchangeable with "success"?
Joy! (very different from pleasure, isn't it?)

n) What's one business question you'd like to ask me?
Where do you get the courage to be so exposed and truthful and out there like this?
Thank you, by the way, so inspiring.

Normally I do subscribe to the less-is more approach. So I feel obliged to apologize for the length of the answer for question H. Whenever I talk about this I feel compelled to show the big picture as well as share the personal story. I hope that through the FSS I'll learn to reconcile the desire for brevity with the just right amount of information to convey the true complexity of this situation.

a) Give us a quote that explains how you see life.
Nature's first green is gold,
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf's a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay.
--Robert Frost

j) What did you used to believe that you now think is silly?

k) What's your biggest entrepreneurial obstacle, and how will The FSS help you turn it to ashes?
Envisioning how to monetize a client base which is often broke! I'm hoping the FSS can lift me over the problem so I can get a fresh angle on it.

a) "Every once in a while, bite off more than you can chew.”
b) My answer clearly comes from a person fortunate to live in relative prosperity (compared to the whole of humanity.) In my world, the biggest problem I see is that people get wrapped up in the everyday, mundane details of life, so they waste their days not living life to its fullest. Too few people look for, much less uncover, their passion and purpose in the world, so they end up living hollow lives that have little meaning, which hurts them and every single other person in the world.
c) The world needs more encouragement for people to pursue whatever it is that will make them truly, deep-down-to-their-soul, blissfully happy. Happiness is not selfish. People who are happy have the ability to look outside themselves and do good for others; unhappy people can usually only dwell on their own dissatisfaction. It's like putting on your oxygen mask before helping the person sitting next to you...
d) Manpacks – a subscription service for underwear, shirts and socks for men. Brilliant! http://www.manpacks.com/
e) Chris Guillebeau – truth; Mom – strength; Rex Barrett – happiness
f) “Tell me more…” I am all about learning everything I can about every human being I come in contact with.
g) My business is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping girls learn to balance being independent and developing healthy relationships with others. We will help them learn to take care of themselves emotionally, physically, financially, etc. and because of that confidence in their own abilities, their relationships with others will be built on a healthy foundation, rather than a need for something they don't find within themselves. We will incorporate many different ways of helping, with development of self-worth being the keystone issue; we’ll emphasize education, financial literacy, health, smart choices, etc.
h) Basically, we will battle codependence in young women before it has a chance to really take hold. Helping one young woman will have a positive effect on every relationship she develops throughout her entire life.
i) Grants, fundraising activities, branded product sales, affiliate sales
j) That my future was confined to the examples of those around me.
k) Maintaining the passion and energy it takes to start a new venture while going to school full-time (graduate in May!) and finding enough freelance work to pay the bills. Just reading WhiteHotTruth helps keep my fire stoked. I feel like a program devoted specifically to my biggest obstacle could be the one thing to keep my soul (and body!) energized.

I’m torn between Session 4 and Session 3. You see, I believe books, words, can change your life. But I’m also a reader who likes to savour books, so I’ll probably start at the beginning.
m) For you, what word is interchangeable with "success"?
Freedom.

n) What's one business question you'd like to ask me?
How to unburden myself from the notion that one cannot make money while “fighting the good fight”. I believe you’re reconciling one or two things in that realm, that’s why I’m here.

Nothing’s wrong with the world. We who live here just need to slow down and remember a lot of simple things that are all based in the heart.
c) What does the world need more of?
More connection to the heart. More people practicing living courageously from the heart, seeing from the heart, speaking and living from the heart, and in doing so inspiring others to do the same.
d) What's one great businesses idea you wished you thought of?

It currently brings beauty, love and light into the world by providing a means for people to uplift, inspire and connect with each other through meaningful gift-giving. It will fundamentally be about creativity, the heart and inspiration.

I create simple yet beautiful gifts that communicate from the heart and bestow a personal wish on the receiver. They allow people to create a gift that’s uniquely theirs to gift for any occasion from the birth or Christening of a Baby, to Wedding & Engagments gifts that are lifelong keepsakes. More recently I have been requested to make Baby Remembrance gifts, which whilst very sad, it also very heart-touching and rewarding as I’m told these gifts matter and are hard to find.

That I had to ignore my own feelings to keep other people, as I perceived it, ‘happy’!
k) What's your biggest entrepreneurial obstacle, and how will The FSS help you turn it to ashes? Fear in it’s many guises. The FSS will help me to blast through the blocks that I’ve been allowing to hold me back, whilst more importantly reconnecting me with a sense of vision, passion, and purpose that I have become distant from in recent times.
l) What chapter in The FSS do you want to read first?
I’d like to start from the beginning, though know I’ll probably jump to ‘Fear and Other Tough Stuff’ as it’s relevant right now, and then back to Sessions 3 and 4 to get reconnected to my whys.

“Genuine art tells the truth” -Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche

2. What's wrong with the world?
Ignorance.

3. What does the world need more of?
Attention.

4. What's one great businesses idea you wished you thought of?
Community-Supported Agriculture.

5. Name 3 people you admire and 1 word on each of them to describe why.
Passion=Rumi
Persistence=J.K. Rowling
Perspective=the Dali Lama

6. What's your cocktail line?
I’m trained as a conservation biologist, and artist, and an educator; but what I really do is rekindle a sense of childlike awe for the natural world in people.

7. What does/will your business bring to the world?
My business will illuminate scientific discoveries for people by translating dry, disconnected, technical papers into engaging stories.

8. What problem do you solve for people?
Right now, scientific literature is the only venue for reporting discoveries about the world we live in, and these papers are largely inaccessible to non-scientists because of the way they’re written. The content, though, has the power to truly change the way people see themselves and their place in the universe. It just needs to be freed from its trantional genre. I can do this.

9. What are your current or intended revenue streams?
I’ve been shedding possessions and making some money from them. I also have a regular, full-time job that supports me, for now. I’m still unclear about how exactly I’ll monetize my business idea, and that’s a big part of what I’m hoping to get from The FSS.

10. What did you used to believe that you now think is silly?
That all you need is love. It’s important, but love isn’t all you need.

11. What's your biggest entrepreneurial obstacle, and how will The FSS help you turn it to ashes?
Self-promotion. I’m not afraid of it, but I’m lacking the know-how I expect to get from The FSS.

12. What chapter in The FSS do you want to read first?
I intend to start at the beginning, but I’m especially looking forward to Session 7.

13. For you, what word is interchangeable with "success"?
Purpose.

14. What's one business question you'd like to ask me?
How do you maintain brand and innovation simultaneously?

i) I host Art Festivals with a cover charge and collect donations for booze. It's worked for the current scale of operations, but we're ready to streamline bigger bucks that aren't as dependent on alcoholic consumption!

j) I used to believe that in order to get help with my dreams, I had to compromise my vision. Oh, how wrong I was!

k) Collaboration creates challenges. Knowing when to decentralize and when to hold on to the thrown is my biggest one. The FSS will foster clarity of my vision, my strengths and my weaknesses--letting me know when to give it up and when to hold on tight.

l) Session 14: Supporting Characters. Because I'm not interested in being a Renaissance woman. I want conscious partnerships that let this baby thrive.

m) Success=FLOW

n) Danielle--How would you suggest my business could generate more money, without creating an elitist reality that excludes people who have less money?

a) Give us a quote that explains how you see life.
“Don’t let nobody take care of your business better than you do.” – James Brown

b) What's wrong with the world?
Excess of artificial and misplaced desire: this breeds sadness, frustration, waste and greed.

c) What does the world need more of?
Knowing what we really want. I like to think meditation is the surefire way to access this.

d) What's one great businesses idea you wished you thought of?
Netflix.

e) Name 3 people you admire and 1 word on each of them to describe why.
Nubby Twiglet. Cohesive.
Grace Coddington. Visionary.
Wanda Jackson. Indominatable.

f) What's your cocktail line?
I help clients convey in their messaging what they need, so they get what they want.

g) What does/will your business bring to the world?
Clearer messages: fewer smoke screens, more ideas spreading like wild fire.

h) What problem do you solve for people?
I help them step outside their own head for a paradigm shift that makes their message clear, concise and desirable.

i) What are your current or intended revenue streams?
I freelance as a copyeditor and music journalist. I used to work in non profit communications. I want to build my clientele into a diverse but cohesive base of individuals I really click with.

j) What did you used to believe that you now think is silly?
There is only so much good in the world, i.e., if something good happens for me, surely it will be followed by equal or greater strife and sorrow. What a backwards way to live a life.

k) What's your biggest entrepreneurial obstacle, and how will The FSS help you turn it to ashes?
I need to whittle down my interests to the core of what I'm meant to do. The strategies outlined in FSS have helped so many people do just that, and it shows!

l) What chapter in The FSS do you want to read first?
The Strategy of Desire.

m) For you, what word is interchangeable with "success"?
Innovation.

n) What's one business question you'd like to ask me?
How do I narrow it all down to what I'm truly meant to do?

a) Give us a quote that explains how you see life.
"Creativity is the supreme freedom. It is a freedom that requires discipline and rules, yet it is boundless for the person who taps into it.” – Anna Deavere Smith

b) What's wrong with the world?
We are constantly told What to think and How to live, instead of guided to think and thrive in our own rights.

c) What does the world need more of?
A combination of direct telling and the unusual re-imagining of truth, to fully empower the worlds both inside of & around us.

d) What's one great businesses idea you wished you thought of?
Pilobolus Dance Company- how they extend their brilliance to work with corporations and organizations worldwide in movement choreography and innovation. BAM.

e) Name 3 people you admire and 1 word on each of them to describe why.
Danielle LaPorte- Presence
Chris Guillebeau- Genuinerosity.
Andrew McMahon- Drive.

f) What's your cocktail line?
I want to inspire people to think independently, hone their own radical visions, and inspire others in turn.

g) What does/will your business bring to the world?
Lightning bolts of creativity fused with rad social philosophy.

h) What problem do you solve for people?
I help them break down the barriers between passive living and creative engagement. I aim to immerse people in thought-provoking experiences, through divining connections from the intuitive to the intellectual to the visual and back again.

i) What are your current or intended revenue streams? Website, e-books/products, independent fashion line, multidisciplinary collaborative productions, consulting, freelance writing, books (novels, nonfiction, poetry & a combination of all three). All very much intended for near future (I'm 19 and graduating design school in two years).

j) What did you used to believe that you now think is silly?
That I had to work under someone else for years before branching out on my own. Um, this girl's vision can't wait!

k) What's your biggest entrepreneurial obstacle, and how will The FSS help you turn it to ashes?
Lack of detail orientation. I'm practical, but so much of a top-down, big-picture thinker that I need clear guidance on how to make it all happen! And this inexperienced art student sorely needs some business advice.

l) What chapter in The FSS do you want to read first?
Session 12 on Fear + Other Tough Stuff! I'm a passionate nut with a tender shell (who also rarely reads sequentially.)

m) For you, what word is interchangeable with "success"?
Alive-lihood.

n) What's one business question you'd like to ask me?
What's a first step I can take towards achieving financial independence?

-

Love what you've done here, Danielle. Even without a prize, just the process of answering these questions is a conduit of revelations!

As my favorite band says, “I can tell as you turn, I smell the sulfur so clear- and fire’s a beautiful sound.” New beginnings are already crackling.

a) Give us a quote that explains how you see life. "I would rather regret the things I have done, than the things I have not." Lucille Ball

b) What's wrong with the world? People have lost touch with the Earth. Few know how to live off the land, to grow their own food, or what it means to travel without using fossil fuels. When you loose touch of the things that gives you life, you don't respect life anymore at all.

c) What does the world need more of? The world needs more victory gardens, farm animals, bicycles, hand-me-down clothes, upcycled beauty, pause-and-reflect time, silence, and spayed and neutered dogs and cats.

d) What's one great businesses idea you wished you thought of?
I wish I had thought of cell phones that were like personal computers in the palm of the hand.

e) Name 3 people you admire and 1 word on each of them to describe why.
My 6th and 7th grade Humanities teacher, Mrs. Berry: Inspiring
Jenny Hart of Sublime Stitching: Entrepreneurial
Ann Reifel, a previous college professor: Encouraging

f) What's your cocktail line?
I don't need a line. I need vodka, club soda, and a lime.

g) What does/will your business bring to the world? It makes people happy to watch people pick out a piece of my jewelry that means something to them personally. It makes me happy that people read my blog and feel informed. I want to bring people the same: happiness and useful information.

h) What problem do you solve for people? I am really good at listening. That may not seem like a problem, but people like to have someone to talk to that really listens and doesn't butt in or tell them what to do. I am honored to listen when people need someone to talk to who truly cares about what they have to say.

i) What are your current or intended revenue streams? My only intent is that I can make enough money working for myself so that I can support myself and my husband while he works on his Ph.D. I really don't want to go back to working for other people who treat my time like a resource they can exploit at their will.

j) What did you used to believe that you now think is silly? Disney. Nothing in life is as perfect as the world of Disney leads a child to believe.

k) What's your biggest entrepreneurial obstacle, and how will The FSS help you turn it to ashes? My biggest obstacle is that I do have to spend time working for others which means I can not devote all my time to working for myself. I hope that The FSS will give me the tools to do what it says, to help me, "combine passion with pragmatism, to get to fulfillment and cash."

l) What chapter in The FSS do you want to read first?
I would first read "Your True Strengths + The Metrics of Ease" because I do need to get better at what I am best at!

m) For you, what word is interchangeable with "success"? Happiness.

n) What's one business question you'd like to ask me? I would want to know, if you knew my business well, where you think I should focus my time: on making product, on blogging, or on creating more e-courses.

b) Nothing is “wrong” with the world per se. The world is lovely and has everything that it and we need. Many of us seem to forget this. That is where the “wrong-ness” resides. There is a disconnect in many of us between ourselves and the world. We forget to respect the fact that the world is lovely as it is and has everything that we need. We need to reconnect to the fact that if we treat the world and everything in it with respect and care, then it can, in turn, respect and take care of us.

a) Give us a quote that explains how you see life.
“That upon which you meditate, you become.”

b) What's wrong with the world?
There is too much emphasis on the extractive economy and instantaneous gratification through “stuff”. Too many isolating pastimes and gadgets masquerading as entertainment. Too much waste.

c) What does the world need more of?
The world needs more people willing to get beyond their nonsense to form communities in which we really have each-other’s backs. We need awareness of the impact of our actions on each-other and the planet. Connection, Cooperation and Common Decency.

d) What's one great businesses idea you wished you thought of?
A local lady bought a vintage double-decker bus and painted it pink, then added the silhouette of a 1950’s style woman in apron and beehive. She makes homemade cupcakes and sell them from the bus, wherever it is parked on a given day.

e) Name 3 people you admire and 1 word on each of them to describe why.
Michael Pollan: truthspeaker
Danielle LaPorte: tireless
Eddie Izzard: bold

f) What's your cocktail line?
I go places where people are living sustainable and self-reliant lifestyles, and bring back what I see. I focus on the Inner Work involved in living this way, and I’ve created an online community for people to literally practice living in community. It’s the vicarious experience of a lifetime.

g) What does/will your business bring to the world?
It will offer a forum to uncover and practice the Inner Skills needed to live well during a time of uncertainty and transition. It will be a place to practice taking the “highroad” without losing your dignity (or your shirt), in the company of others learning to do the same.

h) What problem do you solve for people?
Most of the writing around self-reliance, sustainability, and eco-awareness focuses on the “how to Do...”, while we are still in need of a place to practice “how to Be...” when it comes to living in community with others. I’m creating a place for people to experiment, learn from each-other, and grow into themselves without the pressure or high stakes involved in joining a community physically. It’s like training wheels for the way we’ll hope we can live together when the oil runs out.

i) What are your current or intended revenue streams?
Presently I have a “regular job” in addition to my home-based business consulting in regard to natural health using exceptional essential oils. I also write and I’m a baby blogger working to create an online community; I’d like to arrange it so that my writing funds my travel to existing eco-communities, where I can research and bring what I learn back into the writing.

j) What did you used to believe that you now think is silly?
I used to believe that I required a University degree attesting to the fact that I’m wicked smart and that what I have to say is legitimate.

k) What's your biggest entrepreneurial obstacle, and how will The FSS help you turn it to ashes?
My biggest entrepreneurial obstacle is figuring out how to get paid for what I do (!) so that I can do more of it from a broader base. Because I’m a sucker for transformation and totally willing to burn for it, I sense that the FSS will help me find the voice behind my excuses, hone the message in my ramblings, and find the peeps who want what I’ve got.

l) What chapter in The FSS do you want to read first?
I want to start right at the beginning with Burning Questions and What to Stop Doing, even though I’m tempted to jump right into session #7, “Making Stuff That Feels Good to Make”.

m) For you, what word is interchangeable with "success"?
santosha~ it’s sanskrit for a sublime kind of contentment that springs from within (note to grammar police: there are no capital letters in sanskrit).

How can I turn myself into my business?

i) What are your current or intended revenue streams?
Currently a small but glam Pilates/Barre fitness studio in Hobart CBD, open just one month and running a only a few classes which have filled via word of mouth. Actual launch date is set for beginning of December (a massive Barretini party is in the planning process), and world domination set for early next year... Website will offer online on demand classes in the near future.

j) What did you used to believe that you now think is silly?
That food is hardly an issue; eat what you want, when you want, and as much as you want. Now I get that it's a fairly major part of the living healthy equation, quite silly to think otherwise.

k) What's your biggest entrepreneurial obstacle, and how will The FSS help you turn it to ashes?
Business growth beyond just little moi... the studio is the first of it's kind in the state (dedicated to Barre and Pilates), built with TLC by my very crafty husband and finishing arty touches by myself. I am searching for the way forward in sharing the Pilates/Barre love with more folks-in-need.

l) What chapter in The FSS do you want to read first?
I already have your "True Strengths and Metrics of Ease" chapter, and re-read a gazillion times, so the next on my preference card would be Module 3, Session 8 - Self Promotion, coz' I do REALLY struggle with it, I think where I need guidance is balancing ego vs proving that I rooly do know what I'm talking about.

Judy Hawkins: Visionary

f) What's your cocktail line?
"So tell me, what have you been reading lately?"

g) What does/will your business bring to the world?
In Circle, women undergo beautiful and radical transformation. This affects who they are and how they interact with their families, their work, and their communities. This is a change in consciousness at the grassroots level, and it makes a profound impact as it ripples outward.

h) What problem do you solve for people?
I give them the space to discover that they know the answer already, and are capable of acting upon it.
Circle also provides an opportunity to heal the place inside that feels isolated, excluded, invisible, or inadequate.

i) What are your current or intended revenue streams?
Current: I am a graphic artist.
Intended: Launching and facilitating women's circles, leading workshops and retreats, and writing e-books about how to create a space for women to be authentic and real in all of their shadow AND light, so that we can shine in our true luminescence and support each other in being our highest and best selves.

j) What did you used to believe that you now think is silly?
That my ability to shine was dependent upon something/someone extrinsic to myself. That other's needs were paramount to my own. That abuse was a given.

k) What's your biggest entrepreneurial obstacle, and how will The FSS help you turn it to ashes?
I have 3 boys I am raising by myself and find I get distracted from my vision by a combination of warring valid and important needs + financial stress + pure exhaustion. When I get back to working on my "true work," it takes me awhile to find my place. FSS will keep me focused, step by step, with clear worksheets, practical guidelines, and mind-expanding teachings.

A sense of meanlinglessness, distraction, disconnection, disenchantment, and a culture of judgement, self-hatred, valuelessness and empty power.

PostSecret - I love the (nearly lost) art of mail, I love when people find the courage to share what is alive and real in them and the community that happens when they do.

h) What problem do you solve for people?
Old coping mechanisms and defense mechanisms that no longer serve us, outdated habits that don't let us share ourselves, a sense of scarcity around time and the ability to find connection to ourselves and others, empty traditions and that no longer nourish us, and a lack of literacy and skillsbuilding around emotions that is holding us all back.

i) What are your current or intended revenue streams?
I currently work with youth, doing peer education around issues of HIV and sexual health, gender, and social justice and supplementing my income through freelance journalism, workshop facilitation, and selling my art. I am ready to move into being self-employed and earn my living at the intersection of learning, healing, creativity, spirit, community-building and social change through workshops, e-courses, retreats, blogging, e-courses, and coaching.

a) Give us a quote that explains how you see life:
Let the beauty you love BE what you do!

b) What's wrong with the world?
Lack of ethics. If we had a healthy dose of integrity and ethics applied to the corporate world and on an interpersonal level we would see a much better world. The world would be filled with ethical people in charge of large corporations who are ethical, governments who are truly ethical. Ethical being not causing harm to this world and the purpose of our existence as an organization and individually is to create value that serves our fellow people and generations to come.

c) What does the world need more of? People taking 100% responsibility for how they feel, their states, their results, everything... Creativity over consumption. If we could all be producers, if we could all let go of the emotional wounds that hold us back from consistent thinking we would all be in love with life and creating from that space.
d) What's one great businesses idea you wished you thought of?
Samasource
e) Name 3 people you admire and 1 word on each of them to describe why.

I help people understand the process it takes to complete a project. I appreciate excellence and share my vast experience in production in many areas of marketing, life, yoga with those looking to bring an idea to fruition. Often its a dream that they have had but never knew how to start. I start the fire.
i) What are your current or intended revenue streams?
Currently its consulting as a strategy director to organizations looking to create special programs and applications (iphone, ipad, andriod, facebook) for their business. I would love to move it towards a people organization helping people grow their sense of self so that they can be producers themselves. A strange mix of things I know but that is who I am and what I do. I inspire. I act. I create. I am an act of love expressing itself right here and now :)
j) What did you used to believe that you now think is silly?
I used to think that material things mattered. I really do think they are silly, I used to want all the shiny things, but I've moved my life towards creating more than I consume.
k) What's your biggest entrepreneurial obstacle, and how will The FSS help you turn it to ashes? Bringing all the opportunities together that are here and now and turning them into a plan and also to help clarify my deepest desire and creative expression so I can share that more with the world. So wish I got in on this. I had one very long, un-interrupted hot flash that put me out of commission for the last 4 days. Good luck to everyone who applied! I'm pretty sure I'll be going through every drawer in the house collecting coins to buy the FSS.
