So many truths and lies and dichotomies packed into 48 seconds, Leonard style.

  • Janice said Cohen is one of the soundtracks to her life. Mine too. I wrote a screenplay to Ten New Songs playing in the background, over and over. Funnily, it was based on my aunt's childhood, which began in Greece. And the lonely man looking for/singing about love - of course. We are consumed by our longings, aren't we?
  • Thanks, Danielle. Cohen is one of the sound tracks of my life. I saw a programme recently which followed him back to Greece, to the places he lived in the 'So long MaryAnne' days. He was haunted then, and the documentary showed how he always has been. I think the line "I have tried, in my way, to be free." says it all for me; the struggle to make beauty out of the melancholy and soul deep loneliness he was given as a poetic, creative gift and the fear that deep love might free him from his gift as well as his loneliness.

Loneliness whose only cure is true, deep love... that's one of the most beautiful sad thoughts I've entertained in a while. Thanks. :)

  • He doesn't look sad about that truth. He seems to have made peace with his (our) state of loneliness. I like to think so, anyway...
  • Nancy Froio
Leonard brings down the truth...and I believe he is hooked in with an amazing woman now...
  • Ahhhhh, Len. XOXOX
  • Hmmm.....

That made me feel a little bit sad. I'm not sure why...
  • me too. she nails him...the lover of women but alone.
