the upside of procrastination

Click here to view my Connect with Mark Kelly segment for this week on time management and why we should leave space to meander.

  • Can I admit that I'm here right now because I scheduled 90 min of Me Time into my calendar, & there was nothing more I wanted to do for myself than to catch up on your blog (which I feel like I haven't gotten to read for months)? I, too, have had countless Time Management systems, most which I take great pains setting up (usually making things as complicated as possible) & which take mere days to knock down. I'm now trying to go Back to Basics with asking myself if I'm being realistic with my To Dos, keeping at least an hour of each day for myself, & checking in with myself on whether this task/project/appointment is in line with my goals & values. Also, stopping the ridiculousness that is multi-tasking & rewiring myself to focus on one thing at a time makes everything that much more enjoyable & productive for me.

I love these segments! You're such a rock star.
  • Don't you HATE anonymous comments? Anyway, LOVED the video, especially letting problems resolve themselves through procrastination. I knew i did this for a reason. I usually try to ask myself "what are the 3 things that I will kick myself over if I don't get done today" and get those out of the way first. Or at least that's what I say I do...
  • Anon
i really don't think the video did anything but take away six minutes of my life. can we get transcripts please?

for example, when you mention a url, take advantage of the medium and show the address on the screen..
  • Dear Anon,
actually, it only took away four minutes of your life.
  • Great to see you live, Danielle.
  • Kerri
Thanks again Danielle - you made my morning AGAIN! I discovered last year, at 37 years of age, that my 'procrastination' was almost always my inner sense of right timing. I was so happy to learn that! It let this worker-girl off the hook and made me free-er with my to-do lists. So often you and I are on the same wave length; it's almost freaky. I hope we meet one day :)
  • Most excellent! The creative entrepreneur type who hates structure but secretly love the 5yr plan...totally resonated with that! A great reminder to manage my time in a way that works for ME. Thanks for posting =)
  • YES!! I totally love that line about divine timing. Your soul knows when to step on the gas. Another aspect of procrastination is deciding when to jump off projects/relationships/jobs that one really should leave earlier. For me, i'm now learning to say 'no' and cut the chord earlier, rather than waste time and be stuck further down the road. Putting off leaving something can be just as bad as putting off initiating/completing something.. xxxxx
  • "Procrastination can be divine timing"- It's a keeper.Love it when you just are you and let it flow!
  • Don't you love how Mark says your name with in that nice French-Canadian way - he must be bilingual.

This was my fave segment so far. Time doesn't even exist anyway, right?
  • Keiko
