the red lipstick reporter interview: the psychology of style + branding

P

The very dynamic Tamara Gold at The Red Lipstick Reporter interviewed me recently about style, being real, and life balance. Click below to hear why I think the "pursuit of life balance"" is bullshit, why I felt like a phat fake when I was running a DC think tank, how to "announce your unfolding," and three questions to ask yourself about branding your business.

  • I loved your comment about "women being our own worst enemies". That annoys me so much every time I see it - really glad to hear that someone else feels the same way!

The interview was great; very inspiring. I had the window sitting open in my browser for, jeez, almost a week before I listened to it, and I wish I would have done so earlier!
  • Hey :) I'm new to your website and totally love it. I've read the entire archives over the last few days and have learned lots and been really inspired. The whole thing about trying to acheive balance and well-roundedness being a waste of time is really helpful to me - thankyou!

    I enjoyed the interveiw :)
  • Hard ass career girl ha? :)
  • Hey Danielle,
I really enjoyed this interview. It was great to get a deeper dive into your philosophy.
    Take Care,

Mmm mmm good! Wild thanks, Danielle & Tamara, for the best 26 minutes.

"Balance schmalance". Love that, and couldn't agree more with its wise irreverence. Ironically, I came across this definition of balance: "the power or ability to decide an outcome by throwing one's strength, influence, support, or the like, to one side or the other." Too funny. Definitions are filled with contradictions just like us :-)

I want to bring the Phoenix to Chicago in 2010. Am working on gathering a kindling crowd of ladies ready to burn bright. XO
